"The rose stopped the planes?! Plot hole!"- said by Sailor Moon, Mars, and maybe Mercury together
Actually, the rose stopping the planes was no plot hole. In the dubbed show, Tuxedo Mask's rose was mainly an "attack" that created something similar to a shield.

I always thought the rose broke Jadeite's concentration, thus stopping the planes since he was moving them with his mind.
This was one of the few times in the show when there wasn't a plot hole involved.

If you think about it... They never did explain anything about Tuxedo Mask's abilities and how it pertained to roses.. let alone why roses for some reason could distract any enemy long enough for Sailor Moon to attack... c.c
With Jadeite standing around trying to run over the scouts with two airplanes (which mind you would have crashed into each other long before they got anywhere near running over the sailor scouts...) how would a rose staking itself into the ground stop him? It would have made sense when the leaped into the air to fight that the planes might have stopped.. but from the rose?
And where the hell do you buy roses with tips strong enough to stake into any material anyway?

Who the hell knows with this anime. SMA is barely a season and a half through and even in the original its full of parodox, irregualrities, and plot holes.
In a somewhat related note about Jedite-I think Jedite was prolly the strongest of the beryl's general. Considering how the others eventually died.

I think we were centering in on what resi said - how the hell would a rose stop a plane? You can prettify it all you want, it's still a friggen rose.

Yes it is, a rose that is a plot device, like almost anything used in any anime. Still I'm with newage on this one, Darian I mean Tuxedo Mask simply used the rose to break Jedite's concentration and the planes stopped, yet for some reason the inertia generated by the planes didn't keep them moving for a little longer than would be expected in reality.

Now that I think about it, there is another thing that is wrong with my theory. Later on when Mars throws the magic paper thing on his back which temporarily stuns him, the planes are still moving. If the rose was enough to break his concentration, I figured that would have been too. Didn't help that with Mercury's useless blast he couldn't even see the planes either.
My hopes of trying to make sense out of this show are dashed once again. Back to the drawing board.

It's a plot hole, deal with it there are worse (such as PUTTING A FREAKING HEATER IN YOUR FACTORY OF ADDITIVE HIGHLY FATTENING COOKIES! HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE!?)

Fun day at the factory, eh Vfanatic?
I now accept this particular part as an unexplainable plot hole. However, I shall continue my search in finding some logic in this show. I have a feeling it's out there somewhere and I shall not rest for a minute till I put the missing puzzle pieces together.

The rose had several uses. Did you you expect Tuxedo Maskt o have only ONE attack? But the shield was indeed one of the rose's main moves.

Yeah, I realized that on my own. That's why my own dabbling with that very same theory was rather short-lived. After all, I hadn't seen Sailor Moon in quite a long time before I discovered SMA. So I had doubted my memory, 'cause it suckx in the first place. But that was the very first use of the rose I latched onto as a child- although I did watch the original season first, I didn't see every episode and hadn't exactly watched them in order. Aw, screw it. I have something to say to each and every one of your comments, and say it I shall. Although I guess some of the comments aren't worth saying, the ones to the stupider messages- though I'll say stuff to some of those anyways: 2 aces's first response: The part of such lack of inertia is an even better example of why the rose puts up a shield. Even though children were the ones watching this, and don't know the word 'inert' exists, most kids still at age 5- or even 4- grasp the concept easily... after all, their playing balls always have ta get in that extra bounces, don't they? This, again, enforces the idea the rose puts up some sort of barrier: If Jedite was indeed stupid enough to not realize the other distractions- which IS entirely possible for any Sailor Moon character, at least in the anime versions- if Jedite was just using some hyped-up telekinesis, that inertia WOULD have been unavoidable. 2 resimars417's probably rhetorical question of "Where the hell do you buy roses with tips strong enough to stake into any material anyway?": The internet or the underground market would be my guess. Though I definitely know there is a secret online black market, so maybe both? 2 KrisRix about the core fact that a rose stopped a plane or two: A natural rose itself wouldn't be the REAL reason those planes were affected. It would be more like Tuxedo Mask used it to attach his power on... like one of Mars's banishing scrolls, for instance. 2 vfanatic's unrelated complaining about putting the heater in a factory that makes cookies: The answer to this is so obvious, I should even have to explain it; they do it because they want to make easy money... and what easier way to make more on a daily basis than whoosh a little tempting scent around people who can't leave? 2 both aces and 8whip's generalizations on anime: True, Sailor Moon is a show with LOTS and LOTS of plotholes... which, yes, you can, and SHOULD, expect in any anime. As it was once said by Lanipator's abridged version of Kurama; "Logic and anime don't mix, you know that."

Okay you seem to not get my obscure reference, I'm referring to a plot hole that I mentioned in my Totally Spies Rant, in which a villain in one episode put a heater in her secret factory of highly addictive cookies, which also melted easily My comment was suggesting that despite the Rose stopping a plane is a plot hole, putting a heater in your factory of easily melted cookies is worse. It's anime, you can kill a man with a pebble if you're strong enough but to put the key to ruining your plans in your own factory and expect to be taken seriously THAT'S a plot hole that makes GT look like Citizen Kane
