As we know the animation of Sailor Moon has been one of the many things that SMA pokes fun of. What do you think of it? (the animation, whatever SMA does is funny) I decided to watch the first episode the actual first episode and couldn't believe how many times they kept reusing the same animation over and over. At least 50 percent of the episode seemed to be looped animation.

Uhh yeah,it's called "Stock Footage" It happens in most anime! I do agree that it is funny that the SMA Crew pokes fun at the animation in the show, but you must remember that this was back during the good 'ol days of Cell animation, when anime came out on a weekly basis (Unless it was an OAV) they were constrained with time and money, so they had no choice but to re-use the footage (For the transformations/attacks/etc. of course that's in any magical girl/robot show) and/or looping it in certain places. it dates back all the way to the 60's when Osamu Tezuka was forced to do it for show like Astro Boy and Kimba. A Perfect example of a show that likes to Re-use animation is Macross 7 (A Show which I Detest) where they spent so much money on the music and getting JAM Project to do the songs (Which are acctually better than the show itself) that they were forced to re-use animation of Valkaries exploding, Basara Nekki rocking out, and other things as well.

Uhh yeah,it's called "Stock Footage" quote] I thought stock footage was when the scenes are generally used in every episode like attack scene and transformation scnes or generic scenes in general. I mean like when they just kept on looping animation of Luna's mouth flapping over and over.
