TV Announcer: The following, is a Special Presentation of CBC Sports.
Ron MacLean VO: The National Hockey League has had many teams across the years. Many have fallen by the wayside, or moved to another city and become a different team. The League has kept a tight belt on the number of teams that could hold membership in the elite of Ice Hockey. In the past, expansion teams have been introduced, but in limited quantities, with the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets being the last teams to join back in the 2000-2001 season. After countless meetings between the league and team owners, tonight marks the addition of two new teams to the roster. Returning from their absence after the franchise was moved to Phoenix and became the Phoenix Coyotes, the Winnipeg Jets return to the Western Conference. And making their debut in the Eastern Conference, the SMA Bitches will certainly be an underdog this season. Tonight, these two teams will make their debuts. Will they both fare well against their opposition, or will they fall by the wayside to more experienced teams?
Opening Credits Announcer: Hello Canada and hockey fans in the United States and Newfoundland.

Ron MacLean: Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, and welcome to Hockey Night in Canada. I’m Ron MacLean alongside Don “Grapes” Cherry here at Broadcast House in Toronto. A lot of action tonight around the league, but most important will be that all eyes may be on the two newest teams, the Winnipeg Jets and SMA Bitches. Especially SMA since they have a couple of major twists to the team. First, the team is made up entirely of rookie players. There are no veteran NHL players on their team. Second, they are the only team in the entire league that is comprised of both men and women.
Don Cherry: No doubt the team want to show that women can play just as well as the men, which I agree completely with. Will the ladies be a distraction to their opponents, I don’t know. But tonight, we’ll see if SMA is going to be headed up, or down in the standings and in respect.
Ron MacLean: Well, let’s start with a run down of the players of SMA. Remember that no one on this team is a veteran, they are all new to the NHL. Team owner Eric said that he hoped for consistency and fair balancing amongst his players.
First, let’s take a look at the Forwards.

The debut match against the Toronto Maple Leafs is about to begin at the Air Canada Centre in downtown Toronto. Let's take you now over to the CBC Broadcast Team at the Air Canada Centre. Bob Cole, Harry Neale, and Greg Millen. Gentlemen?
Bob: You know, it's funny. Just last night I had dinner with some of the great Montreal Canadiens of days gone by, Dicky Moore was one of them. 6 Stanley Cups in his time. I asked him if he thought SMA would have a chance in the NHL. He said to me that every team has an equal chance at the beginning of the season, but if I spoke to any of the Bitches today, and I had a chance to talk to both Kirin and KrisRix this morning, to tell them this. From one of the greatest players of all time. "Don't worry about line changes! Don't worry about Line matchups! Play your game of hockey, and play it as hard as you can, and everything will be fine!" Is that good advice?
Harry: Well, it is. I think that the Bitches are going to have a challenging road ahead of themselves, with trying to prove their worth to the NHL as a whole. It's a male-dominated program in the NHL, and I'm not sure that the other teams will be very welcoming to the idea of the SMA Bitches being a dual-gender team.
Greg: And puck support! They're going to need a lot of puck support for the puck carrier, if they plan to take control of this debut game against Toronto, so they have some passing outlets to generate speed. They're a fast team on the ice during warm up, so let's see how they fair tonight in the game.
Bob: So here are the referees for tonight's game. Paul Devorski from Guelph, Ontario. From Essex, Ontario, Dan O'Halloran with him. And on the lines, from Sutherland, B.C., Shayne Heyer. From Sheyrelle, Quebec, Jean Morin. We're underway as the players take their positions. Paul getting ready to drop the puck. He lets it go, and as they start-SHE SCORES! Megami33 takes immediate possession of the puck, and shoots it with a hard slapshot, sending it right into the Toronto Goal!
Greg: I don't think Toronto even knows what just happened! Look at Gerber! He still has no idea how that even happened!
Bob: The teams line up again for the faceoff. It's 1 Nothing Bitches! Paul dropping the puck, SMA takes control, as Megami passes it to KrisRix...She SCORES! KrisRix on the backhand, sneaks it past Gerber and into the net, to make it 2 Nothing Bitches, early in the First!
Harry: Is this even a hockey game?! It's like Toronto isn't even trying out there!...
Bob: And with the horn, we come to the end of the first Period. I don't even think Toronto should continue for another 2 periods. Folks, as we send you back to Broadcast House, the score here at the end of the First Period, is 94 Bitches, Nothing for the Leafs.
In the Bitches locker room, a team celebrating already, as Martin took his helmet off. "How was it out there?" Kirin asked. "Completely boring! The forwards are having all the fun. This isn't much of a hockey game. But I'll be nice and let you have the second period. I almost fell asleep about 10 minutes into the period from sheer boredom. I think though Toronto will probably exchange over to Joseph or Toskala though, given Gerber's performance tonight. Or do you want to give Nate this period, and you go Third?"
"I'll take this period. Though hopefully it will be more entertaining for me than the First was for you."
