I was cool with Naruto until it started getting ridiculous.. >.< I think I heard one too many fangirl squeal "Sasuke" while holding themselves, especially considering Sasuke is my least favorite character because he is identical to every other whiny, angsty, dark teenager, with a backstory any 13 year old could come up with. Then when they proceed to do nothing but focus on bloodline powers-stuff that was supposedly rare, but every frickin' clan in the entire Naruto universe has- for book after book of manga/episode after episode of anime it pissed me off. All the talk at the beginning of the series about how the show "isn't just supposed to be about Naruto, but really all of the characters are main characters." Then they drop all of the characters I wanted to learn more about off the side of a cliff and focus on Sasuke and Naruto, exactly as I expected. It's really just DBZ painted with new colors and slightly more thought put into story. I was really excited about Naruto at the beginning... but it didn't take long for me to realize I was just being a sucker.
I've noticed, that the shows that stick to 24 or 26 episode formats (or 13 in some cases) are the ones I wish would be continued, while shows that go on for hundreds of episodes are ones I wish would just end and fall off the face of the earth... It amazes me sometimes how popular these series are (Bleach, Naruto, Inu Yasha, even FMA) and how much peoples' obsessions with those animes really overshadow the ones that are truly good shows.
</rant>
Sorry about that.. I think I got a little carried away ^^()

I doubt the fangirls are "Holding" themselves when they think about Sauce-Gay But really, almost every Shonen series does the same formula: Rough and Tough kid/Onorthadox/Idiot with eating disorder Young man+Busty/smart/manipulative female side kick+Angst (Yaoi fangirl bait)Rival w/Batman Disorder [Mom/Dad/Grandpa wuz killed in front of me ]+Cool as hell older guy+Even Bustier Female Team Member+Tragedy+Psycho Bad Guy+Reform Enemy into Ally+Get pwnd in battle but then transform when friend/lover dies/wounded/explodes/needled to death/crystal stabbed by [gender indeterminate Ahole:Examples Sailormoon, DBZ, and Naruto]+Mentor gets killed+Ultimate battle between rivals+Some Source of ultimate Universe related energy+Super Secret Training before a fight with a evil being of ultimate/cheap power+Comedy=Epic shonen series But im just generalizing, they couldnt all be like that, could they? I think i just described StarWars, also

Hey, I like Evangelion! Mostly because it's so bad that it's almost good. But there are a lot of plot holes, and other continuity problems in that series, so I understand why not many people like it. Plus, it can get really boring.
But I absolutely love: Sailor Moon (of course!), Ah! My Goddess!, Cowboy Bebop, Azumanga Daioh, and Chobits.

(Although I prefer the manga version of it, the anime is awesome as well)

I wasn't a fan of Cowboy Bebop either but aside from the plot (which reminded me of Outlaw Star for some reason but Outlaw Star was good) the thing that drove me crazy about Cowboy Bebop was the soundtrack. Seriously, if the soundtrack sucks, it'll drive me away from the anime regardless of the plot. I couldn't deal with it. I haven't seen a whole lot of Ah! My Goddess! but what I did see, I liked and of course, I loved Azumanga. Come on, who doesn't love that show?

Resi gets points for pretty much nailing why I gave up on Naruto...I think most fans quit after Shippuden...it just got stupid...also god damn it we wait FOR FUCKING EVER to see the chars we like do ANYTHING...hell outside Filler I STILL haven't seen Hinata-chan do something! Also Sauske is broke as fuck now, he's like post Infinite Crisis Superman...
My personal favorite series right now is One Piece, say what you will I LOVE IT.
The action is amazing, the comedy is hilarious, and the drama isn't cheesy teen drama it's actual touching/heartbreaking/sad moments.
Also I got to say Luffy is currently the most superior Shonen main hero I mean look at his opposition
Naruto and Ichigo Kurosaki.
Luffy has yet to degrade to "ENERGY ATTACK! ENERGY ATTACK!" He's been pure and simply from episode 1 to episode 370. Also his transformations make more sense Naruto: "I SHALL USE THE DEMON FOX'S POWER!" Ichigo: "I SHALL USE MY INNER HOLLOW'S POWER!" Luffy: "I'm going to use my legs as pistons to send the blood in my body moving faster causing my body to get nutrients faster, then I shall bite into my bone and blow air into it making it larger and giving my arm more strength."
Also One Piece WE DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER FOR THE CHARACTERS WE LIKE TO DO SOMETHING...remind me viewers how long ago was it Hinata won a match? Or when Chad did something before the Orange Afro guy? I have no clue but I can tell you the last 3 times Usopp won a fight, or last time Nami kicked some ass.
Last and not least...no useless fillers that are longer then 50 episodes in One Piece...no sir...
/rant One Piece praise

Meh, One Piece is okay. I'm not much into the pirate subculture (hence me HATING the Pirates of the Carribean movies) but One Piece is random enough to keep my interest (at least it was in the manga. I haven't seen the anime at all). As for my feelings on Naruto...it HAD potential...the set up (again, this is from a manga point of view...my subscription to Shonen Jump has long since expired) seemed interesting enough. Then after about 30 issues I realized that not only was it not going anywhere but it seemed to have no intention to do so. So I gave up on Naruto as a whole and haven't looked into it since...

The anime and Manga difference vary, but I'd say the BEST difference in the anime (Jap version BTW not crappy 4Kids dub) is that the anime has some awesome music even lending a good word to Dvorak when Luffy beat the shit out of Croc, the music sets so much mood that it's just awesome, and not some overly Japanese thing like Naruto or some mexican/guitair rifts/american woman in a japanese anime like Bleach.
in fact Sanji alone becomes 3X more epic cause his theme is an awesome Jazz mix.
Also when you hear the villainous organ-like theme you KNOW serious shit is going down.

I think my biggest problem with One Piece is the animation/drawing style. I can't watch it for more than 10 minutes without feeling physically ill. The last anime that bothered me like that was Cutey Honey, and I was still able to watch it... I just hated the bizarre switches between serious and silly drawing styles. One Piece is like that... only I just can't even get into it enough to watch half of an episode... I'm actually a little surprised it's so popular...

cause other people actually take the switch. In fact it's their being funny even in serious times that make us love the characters, as opposed to Naruto where EVERYONE is sad almost ALL the time

My fav anime tend to be ratter FEmales to power aparently aside from one. I never notice it until my older brother pointed it out to me LOL heres my top 4
I love Noir may not had blood and it was my first anime i bought with my own Money but i think the plot was good and so was the twists and the ending in my opinion and the music im a sucker for anime music and Noir Got me hooked on actually listening to J-music.
Sakura Taisen is another favorite it has Mecha which i like a character as clumsy as me yet with Talent which i lack LOL plus its funny.
Yuyu Hakusho what can i say about it in my book its great it has demons super powered guys a good story hot guys...had to point that out plus the Hero wasn't a whiny good guy he was a punk.

nothing personal, cross, but here's MY reasons for hating naruto. 1. HORRIBLY GLACIAL PLOT. DBZ popularized this trend. Naruto's role in the anime community is to do little moar than serve as a replacement for DBZ, because it finally ended, and some shonen author decided to act like blizzard when they created WoW(yes I know it predates WoW), and cash in on the raving faggots who didn't want it to end. Same for one piece and bleach. the "%of plot development per episode" ratio is horrible in naruto. nuff said. 2. The animation is sluggish at best. with the exception, of the eps drawn by the guy who did eps in OVA style. 3. the MASSIVE logic holes. Here's my example of why almost no one in this series is a ninja: Its common knowledge in the world of naruto that ninja wear specialized headbands, and those very headbands state the country they're from. Why do they wear them everywhere? do they not think that'll make them easier to spot? Would that not GIVE THEM AWAY? naruto is nothing but a waste of time, when you consider there's nearing 300 total eps of this extremely flawed crap. Either way, feel free to waste your time at your discretion, this is just my fairly thought out opinion. On the death note topic. Death note(the anime) is popular with the same group that falls for naruto. this mostly makes up teens and a few adults. this means, basically, people who ignore huge flaws in logic, details, and plot construction. I'm no expert on the series, but if I remember much from watching it, it falls to pieces around ep 26, and never recovers. after L dies, just stop, unless you want something akin to pain. I'd say I'm a fan of ojamajo doremi. if you don't know what that is...... www.animefringe.com/magazine/2005/12/feature/13.phpits a magical girl series who's popularity was sad to rival sailor moon's in japan. Its adorable, heart-warming, and the characters are well captured.

Full Metal Alchemist (both the anime and the manga, but I like the manga more), Deathnote (but only the first half), One Piece (but not the dub oh god not the dub), DBZ (but only before the Buu saga), and Rurouni Kenshin.
I like the Idea of Naruto, but I find the execution to be rather poor and it went downhill rather quickly after the Zabuza arc. I think it would have worked better if we actually got to see team 7 grow and become a real team.
Bleach added too many characters too quickly.
