Since it doesn't have its own thread yet, I figured I'd make this one. Obviously, we all like anime or we wouldn't be on this forum in the first place but what are your favorite ones?
Personally, I'm partial to Kino's Journey and Haibane Renmei. It doesn't get any better than that [/completely biased opinion].
If I want to go for funny, you can't beat Azumanga Daioh and to an extent, Excel Saga (I like Excel Saga but sometimes it hurts my mind to watch it because Excel seriously talks far too fast. Have you guys ever tried watching that show with the subs on? It's damn near impossible to read them when she goes on one of her rants!).
So yeah, post away! ;D

I myself am partial to Ranma 1/2. I mean seriously, the sheer genius[sp?] of the entire concept of it is orgasmic. I also like one called Martian Successor Nadesico, for reasons harder to explain, but I reccomend watching that one in english. I find the Japanese voices annoying, go figure, right? I will agree that Excel Saga is rediculous in the humor department though.

I was much more fond of it a few years back and I suppose there's still some jokes in it that make me laugh, but for the most part it just collects dust on my shelf. As for yaoi anime, that's something that I myself could never get into. It's not that I'm opposed to gay guys or anything like that, I just found that most of the plots for those shows very shallow and overdone. I've seen the first few episodes of Ouran High School Host Club and that show actually DID seem somewhat interesting though. ;D moltenamber, I have to agree with you...Ranma 1/2 was greatness! I don't dare try to collect the entire series because it's so expensive (but I've wanted it for as long as I've liked anime) so I just resort to the manga. Either way, Rumiko Takahashi is a frickin' GENIUS (and then she had to go and make that crapstorm, Inuyasha....) for it. Nadesico was alright, I guess. As long as it's not Evangelion....I hate that show. I also despise Lain. I don't know what it is, I just cannot get into that show despite ABe's involvement in it.

Now, now... Eva had one good thing. The opening! XD Seriously, though, did they even try with that one?

Ahh the obligatory favorite anime thread. I'm debating whether or not to attempt to get into the nitty-gritty with Eva and Lain (in my opinion two amazing shows), but I suppose I'll leave your opinions in tact.
My favorites, sadly enough, are Sailor Moon, Ah! My Goddess!, Mai Hime, and Burst Angel. Oh my gosh Mai Hime. It's not as popular as I think it should be but it's definitely the most perfectly blended as far as deep story, emotional content, humor, fan service, and all the other good things an anime should have.
Burst Angel is just an all around awesome show, and though many people have said they disliked the way it ended, I thought it was a perfect ending. The show is definitely a fun one (and my avatar is a pic of Meg from the Burst Angel Infinity extra content).
I could go on and on and on (as I'm sure all of us could) but I suppose I'll end it there for my favorites and stuff.
I liked the first two seasons of Ranma. It started to feel a little strained after that though. I have to admit that I want to go find that place of million cursed pools or whatever. There's gotta be something that'll fix this problem where I turn into a complete nerd every time someone say anime... c.c Or D&D
As for Gravitation, I've considered watching it several times, but never actually did. It's up there as a watchable one though. I've heard so much about it I figure at some point I should see it.
Ouran High Host Club the manga was pretty cool. I guess if I ever see the show, I might start picking it up.
Nadesico was quite enjoyable. ^^ It's been so long since I've seen it I think it's due for a re-watch...
Speaking of re-watches.. I should go watch Battle Athletes again.. c.c

Haha. I actually didn't mean "gay" the literal way. (I'm allowed to misuse the word, because I said so. But I will go hypocritically righteous on a straight person's ass if they misuse it, :3) Although Gravitation IS quite gay, Ouran is not (well....... sometimes...). What I actually meant was that I mostly watch stupid girly stuff that I'm horribly ashamed of. But at the same time, I think Kaiji is my favorite anime at the moment. Manly animes rock my socks, too! Even more so, actually. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann anyone?!

I'm like the obligatory mech/shonen anime fan. That's pretty much about it for me, xD. Tho I could list animes I own in general, but I'd rather post it in a topic that ask about animes you own.

I like animes with actually plot (take out Naruto and Bleach) Not that they don't, but I like watching something where I feel like I want to experience the journey with interesting and sometimes really deep characters. My first real anime (meaning not on cartoonnetwork or TV) was Saiyuki. Though the journey didn't seem to have an end, the characters made me stick with it. Their personalties, thoughts and little quirks that bind them all together made me love this anime so much. Otherwise, I also like Full Metal Alchemist, OHSHC, Avatar, One Piece and Cowboy Bebop to name a few.

Well the anime I have watched in original format are Sailor Moon (all 200) and Cardcaptor Sakura. I also watch some of Hayao Miyazaki's work, I love his movies.

Only animes I've really seen much of were Sailor Moon and Pokemon. I saw the last 10 minutes of the final episode of Cowboy Bebop. As far as I know that was the best part, so kinda pointless for me to go back and watch that.
Not so interesting fact: the spell checker apparently doesn't recognize the word "anime".

FLCL. Man, you just listed another one that I can't stand. My finace's made me watch that like 6 times and I STILL can't find anything I like about it. *laughs* I meant to mention before, Paranoia Agent was also very good. It had Maromi. Although TERRIBLY creepy, Maromi amuses the hell out of me. @krisrix-That's cool, my best friend misuses that word all the time so it's not like it's something I'm not familiar with. Oh, so you mean THAT kind of anime...the kind that you watch in a dark room away from your friends that has parts that make you bawl your eyes out but that's OKAY because no one's around to see it? I too have anime like that which shame me to admit to watching (although in my favorites list from before, I admit the last episode of Kino made me bawl like a baby). I don't like people knowing I cry....damnit, I'm gonna be a cop! I've gotta appear tough! chicknwings- Mech anime is yet another kind I couldn't get into at all. Take Gundam for instance...the designs of the the robot-things were cool and all (and I have several models of them form years past) but the plots were God-awful and there were a MILLION seasons of it. Back in the day when Toonami was still Toonami (and didn't suck ass), I also throughly enjoyed Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe. Tenchi in Tokyo was terrible. And what the hell is up with these new attempts at reviving Tenchi? GXP is just.....*gags* and the Ryo-oke series isn't much better. 0_0

Naruto, Believe IT!
I dont understand why people would hate on it. Its an awesome series. The characters are relatable to what you would see in a highschool, and the ninja fights are just sick. Its an homage to japan and ninja culture. Recently, its been mostly about tragedy instead of always winning.
I dont however like Deathnote, WHY [am i painting a big target on myself]? The characters personality as deep as Rei from Eva, the story is awful and the only reason its even popular is because it panders to randy fan girls. If the athuor was effecient enough they should of made it a yaoi series in the first place and save some fans the trouble of having to look for it. Its not shonen to watch some Androgynous "genius" who instead of doing better things with his time, decides to write names in a book, play footsy with the police and send some deathgod [who should of hidden his diary in the first place] to kill off the people HE says are evil, and then become some God in a controlled and "perfect" utopia.
Shonen is supposed to be some guy or girl, struggling between growing up and going through life changes, progressively getting stronger, getting the tar kicked out of them, falling in love, heartbreak, Ascending and transforming [hes a super sausauge- jin], Rival battles, and ultimately dying aand saving the world from destruction. NOT> IMA WRITE YOUR NAME INA BOOK, YOU DIE, SO THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE Dword WHO SCREWS WITH PEOPLES LIVES, ME AM GOD But its short and to the point which is better than trying to sit and watch 130 episodes of bleach just to progress the damn plot. Bleach and OnePiece im ok with
