oh come on! sure some of those games sucked, but SURELY, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial for the Atari was the worst game ever. Yes...i have played it....dear god. The whole thing is a disaster! They made so many cartridges in anticipation of a great sale, but the sales completely tanked. So what did they do? They dumped the excess cartridges in a desert in New Mexico by the TRUCK LOAD. Yeah....trust me....go onto to Youtube and see for yourself.......ehhhh

And you Obviously never saw/played Big Rigs
As bad as E.T was, at least if by some god awful Miracle you beat the game, you can say you accomplished something, not with Big Rigs, there's 2 kinds of races one with and one without A.I, but it DOESN'T....FUCKIN...MATTER, you win either way, no challenge, no fun, NOTHING except getting to the end and the game saying "You Are Winner."

Pong.... Just Kidding. I would say FFXII. I really couldn't get into the game. I didn't like the Gambit system and having the 'main character' as actually the 'side character'....eeehhhh.....plus the abs...THE ABS! Oh and this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=in6RZzdGki8&feature=channel_page

Oh boy ANOTHER PERSON bitching about the Gambit system, HEY FRANK WE GOT ANOTHER ONE!
Frank: Snake is old joke, Wii is a dumb name joke, Digimon ripping off Pokemon?
Na got another person thinking the Gambit system was bullshit
Frank: Gotcha *files that in the BS files*
First of all ya don't like it SHUT IT OFF, second if you used it right you could save yourself loads of micro management and re-casting spells yourself whilst the giant ass Hell Wrym tries to slaughter your ass. Now I won't disagree that Vaan kinda got pushed to the wayside by Ashe, but to make that a reason why the game sucks is like saying Superman is the worst hero because he's too strong, it's not that big a deal as you make it out to be.
And that link you gave? It's a ROM Hack, not a real game, it's MEANT to be impossible, it's MEANT to make people angry, there's HUNDREDS out there, and some that are worse then that in terms of difficulty. Super Kaizo Mario for example makes that hack look like nothing at all.

As far as the gambit system went, I just made it so everyone would assist my main character when he attacked.. For everything else, I did it myself. It worked out fine for me.
Only problem I've had with the battle system itself was by the end of the game, all my characters were similar in terms of spells and abilities. To be fair, this is not uncommon for some FF games.
I wouldn't say any of the characters were bad, but besides Balthier, for me most were just forgettable. The political back story was pretty cool though.
Now if there was one real problem with the game, it would be some of the overly long dungeons near the end of the game. The two that come to mind are the Great Crystal and 50+ floor tower. It's not like either were really that challenging or anything, just tedious. Not even the good battle system could make up for it.
Overall, I would say it's still above average for an FF game.

Ah yes the complaint that no character is Unique, this WAS changed in the International Version though, although dunno if anyone would buy the game again
Still saying the Gambit system was bad and a game killer is a dumb reason to call it the "Worst Game" I mean if I can go to the bathroom while my characters are fighting one of the top 10 strongest enemies in the game, then the Gambit system is not stupid or broken or useless.
That'd be like if I said Xenosaga Episode II was the worst game ever simply because it's battle system was bad. While that case is true, it doesn't kill the game outright, even with the bad redesigns and sudden VA changes to some characters, it's still not something I'd call worst game ever. Hell I wouldn't even call it the Worst Squeal I've played/seen (DMC2...why must you haunt me? Same with you Goldeneye Rouge Agent.)
See I'm not close minded when I come to games, like I for one do not like Mirror's Edge that much, but others love it, I see why they do, but I myself don't like that kind of stuff. I don't go "OH THE CONTROLS SUCKZ, THE THING IS STUPID." I respectfully say I don't like it and say it's not my kind of game.

I might be one of the few people who actually kind of liked the combat in Xenosaga 2. I'll say it was a good idea with mediocre execution. I'm not including the fights that involve the ES (AGWS?) or what ever you call those giant robot things. I found nothing redeemable about those battles. Having said that, I can completely understand why people would hate it.
Anyway, the game series I am most disappointed in now are the newer Secret of Mana games. The first few had a very good system. Play with 1 or 2 friends and go around killing stuff with various weapons and spells. Why did the designers decide to mess with this formula? Well, despite being different Legend of Mana overall was pretty good even with the lackluster 2 player option.

Ive never played FFXII, but i disagree wholeheartedly. Now lets move on...
Oblivion, the graphics were amazing and there was so much to do and like a bajillion items and missions. But It got really tedious playing, and i realized that im not really into WRPGs you see and maybe it was just me. Graphics and audio were awesome, but the gameplay, and lag issues and the NPCs were as enthustiastic as cardboard cutouts. It just seemed like there was so much to do and so much to explore. But i couldnt get into it. Im more about getting immersed into a journey and having a adventure, and maybe some drama and comedy along the way, meeting fellow allies and then eventually beating the Big Evil Ass monster that wants to shit all over everything just because it wants to.

I, for one, do not like FFXII, even though I played through the whole game and I can see what other people like about it. About the gambit and I, it just never caught on. I know they were trying something new but I didn't like it. Simple as that. And Yes, I know it was a ROM. It's called a joke. Settle down.

If you're implying how I'm saying controls don't matter and me using that as an example, it was just that, an example.
but like I said if you hated the Gambit system like it was the Bubonic Plague why not just turn it off?
The problem is they HAD to try something new, after all Square is constantly bashed for their battle systems, mostly FF and Kingdom Hearts (claiming 1 was a piss poor Platformer and 2 you could play with your eyes close tapping the attack button) by "critics" and "fans" so they're trying to appeal to the jackasses who don't know the difference between a bad game or a good game with flaws (*coughCADforumscough*)
So don't blame Square for the Gambit system, blame CAD Fo...assholes who hate their combat systems. Then you can get the good old stuff...maybe...I dunno...

I was more disappointed than having a passionate hatred of a thousand dying suns in the Gambit system, that's why I didn't like it.
I do know what you mean by adding something new. I can relate that the FF9 ATB was super slooooooow even though I love that game to pieces. But just like the "Rubber band and turbo controller trick," there was also that one trick in FFXII for fast leveling (Negalmuur, or something like that), that let Gambits do all the work.
FXIII seems like a mix almost.
Anyway, back on topic.
Another bad game? Did anyone mention the Zelda games on CD-I yet? Yeah, those were horrible...

If Square actually did listen to fans, I would blame Square for listening to fans. Out of all the people who complain about games, few have good suggestions on how to make a game better. Hell, I have no real idea myself. Personally I'm just ranting and making uninformed suggestions for my own entertainment. If a company decided to listen to me, I would be worried.
Yeah, the Zelda CD-I games looked horrible. I wonder what they were on when making those.
